    Mark,

They are very good despite their age.

For doing large urban areas, I like to use Snappers V2 for buildings.

Feather River has 7000+ Terrtex files each for both summer and winter, totaling over 14,000. BNSF Seligman from TS has about 6500+ for a total of around 13,000. It has been no big deal for some time now. Disk space is cheap. Both of these downloadable routes came in around 1 GB in size each, and we have had other routes with zip files much larger (much shorter Horseshoe at 3 gb+ IIRC)

Horseshoe has always been a pain though to work with.

The other two routes are nice. But Feather River has always been temperamental in MSTS. Not so much though in ORTS from what I have heard.

Maybe I'll share the route with 256x256 terrtex files, and make the original ones available from another source...

    Hi Oliver,

512x512 would be the best bet.

The wonderful update to the Surfliner route uses Mosaic textures sized 512x512 and DXT1 compressed. Overall, the route runs pretty well and the terrain textures look convincing.
