Thread: Problems with saving consists.

  1. #1

    Exclamation Problems with saving consists.

I have installed OpenRails and I wanted to make consists so I got TSRE since that one is the only I could find.
The problem is when I have made a consist, I can't save it.
So I give it a file and display name and click the save button. When I want to close the window it will ask for the last time if I want to save it so I click Save.
When I open the game, the consist is nowhere to be found. Also when I open TSRE again, the consist is vanished. I have tried multiple versions of TSRE.

Who knows what I can do about it? Are there any other consist editors I can use instead?

You say you've given the file a display name, but did you give it a file name, too? Both lines must have a name to save.

Also, where is your TSRE installed at? This sounds like the kind of thing that happens if you install it into Program Files or some other protected folder

    Hi Folks,

Also - I think you have to click on "new" consist first under the [File] menu or it prevents you from saving...

What is the FULL path to the folder where you are saving your files? Example: A:\MSTS\TRAINS\CONSISTS

There is ConBuilder, Convoi and TrainMaster all in the Train-Sim library. Also in the MSTS Tools there is a consist editor it the Activity Editor.

It is not where TSRE is installed but where he has placed his Installation Profiles. As in C:\1MSTS (where it should be) or C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator (where it should NOT be.)

I always give it a display and file name. My Openrails and MSTS are both in program files, is that the problem?

Ok so, I have to move MSTS to C:\ because it's in program files(x86)?

And I don't know where it actually saves it since it doesn't asks me. I have searched but I could not find my consist I have made past days.

The path of TSRE is this: C:\TSRE

I have been experiencing the same problem. I seem to have found the solution when I used the same identical file name as featured by the editor ( Ex: AUnitSkin_GN_262A.eng ). It would seem that including .eng after the loco name is absolutely required. For the display name, I also used the name given by the editor. I hope that is helpful and works for someone else. Happy simming!
