Hi Mark,
LOL - thanks for the enthusiasm - yeah - textures take me far longer than shape building - I am recycling a bunch from my last model which helps speed things along... I also take a bit of poetic license with colors that accentuate the model details as opposed to more uniform colors that mask them...

Funny this is the "Mikes" were really one of my favorite steam locomotives.
The LHR's with those 1916 "70" series Mikes & the 1918 "80" series too. All lasting under the end of steam on the LHR in 1950.
My second Mike choice were the CNJ's 80 Mikes they had (The first 60 from ALCO & the last 20 Baldwin). They fit the road's personality so perfect I thought.
Only regret (Just like you) is I never got to see them run. Always said I was born in the wrong era LOL.

LOL - yeah - I've often felt I'm in the wrong era as well... While we might be looking back through rose colored glasses - I long for the nation that valued - hard work - courage - honor - integrity - and knew how to pull together in a crisis... I cross the NYOW ROW daily and often wonder what it must have been like standing there when one of their big old "Bull Moose 2-10-2" pounded the rails through the crossing...
The ugly duckling but she looks as if she would be a great mountain climber...

Hi Folks,
Been on a break for a bit - blew the cobwebs off my old Mikado and started work again.
First Rutland steam locomotive in our sim - ever ? I can't find any others. Now I'm dusting off my childhood memories but didn't "Abbot and Costello" do a movie where they were driving a Rutland Mikado ?
Still much to do - most of the texture mapping is done and started testing out my physics - still needs rivets, seams, shadows, ambient occlusion, dirt, and grime - mostly texture work.
Just crudely recorded the test - nice .05% hill climb with load - for anyone interested.

I was just thinking about you and your USRA Mikado the other day, Scott. Glad to see both you and the project are still alive and well.
It could just be that it's 2:00 in the morning and I'm sleep deprived, but if you squint hard enough at the Mikado, you can just about see where it would say "New York Central" on the tender.

Thanks for the comments - yeah - it always takes me a while but eventually I get them out. LOL - yeah - I plan to release an unlettered PSP/PS template with it so it can be lettered to anyone's liking. I think it's one of the most massed produced steam locomotives in history so there are many routes it would work with.
If I could only talk Paul into adding a few more miles of Rutland track to his fantastic CT River...
