    Default Winter TERRTEX in TSRE ?

    Hi Folks,

    I've used Goku's TSRE pretty heavily in the TERRTEX department - while vastly superior to Mosaic in most respects - one impasse I can't seem to work around is Winter/Snow TERRTEX (short of maintaining two completely independent copies of any given route)... If you paint Summer TERRTEX in TSRE - the custom painted tiles are then missing from Winter/Snow season...

    Anyone come up with a reasonable method to work around this issue ?

    Thanks...

    If work is ever started again in this area - we desperately need "SCALE and ROTATE" functions included for painting textures - as well...

    Regards,
    Scott

    I don't know that you'd need two copies of a route, just two different folders of terrain textures that could be alternately named TERRTEX as needed. Unless, of course, a switch between seasons is added in future

    Hi...

    Thanks for your response...

    Yeah - the rub comes in as you would need to keep track of precisely which tiles are modified - as they need to be the same in both instances - or I guess I could copy the file that contains the record of applied TERRTEX texture - swapping it out accordingly so the modified tiles won't have to match ?

    Hmm...

    Check experimental seasonal editing in new version 0.6976.

    Enable seasonal editing in settings.txt and set the season, for example:

    seasonalEditing = true
    season = "Winter"

    Then you can run TSRE and repaint your modified textures for a new season.

    I just modified a route using TSRE (adding new ROW and roadside paint) that I previously made snow terrtex textures for using mosaic. I copied the new terrtex files created by TSRE into a folder, and used a batch file to create the same snow textures I had previously created, copied them back in to the terrtex folder. All done.

    Now, looking forward to trying Goku's suggestion above.

    Hi Goku,

    Thanks so much - I'm eagerly looking forward to trying this...

    Hi Goku,

    I may be missing something - I downloaded your new 0.6976 I added the lines you posted to my "settings.txt"...

    # seasonal terrtex
    seasonalEditing = true
    season = "Winter"

    I opened the route in TSRE and the TERRTEX still showed summer (not SNOW) - I made some edits and checked the TERRTEX directory - the changes were saved to the normal (not SNOW) directory as it would before your update... The directory that has my snow textures is called "SNOW" - - - do I need to match your new parameter "season" to the name of an existing directory in the TERRTEX folder ?

    Thanks...

    Scott,

    I'm not a TSRE5 scientist, but shouldn't you uncomment the line # seasonal terrtex?

    Hi Randy,

    Hah - good catch - but no - that's just a comment I added for reference in the file - the only two lines that count are the ones below it...

    I did try matching the "season" line to "SNOW" vs "Winter" - - - that didn't work either...

    Thanks for the response...

    Download new version .69761

    And use:
    season = Winter
    instead of
    season = "Winter"
