Thread: Winter on Rogers Pass

A blizzard has struck British Columbia, but that won't keep the trains from running. Empty potash train 602 eases down the mountain between Stoney Creek and Rogers.

602 met three trains and fairly quick succession. First, westbound 113 at Redgrave.

Second, a rolling meet at Donald with a loaded coal train.

Third, a pause at Hill was required to let 101 roll west.

Conditions did not improve by the time 602 arrived to field. The hotel will be a welcome sight.

Wintertime naturally leads to a majority of trains running in darkness. This one is loaded potash train 603. Personally, the heaviest train I have ever navigated across any MSTS or ORTS route. Topping out at 19,000 tons!

This first photo is at Ottertail.

Got her "in the wind" between KC Jct and Forde.

Tiptoeing down the ruthless 2.2% grade near Ross Peak.

Medium to stop at 91.7, taking the diverging aspect at Flat Creek.

6 hours after departure, Rogers Pass has been conquered!

Everett, the heavy potash sounds like something I'd be interested in. Is there an associated activity with consists in the library, or is it something you put together?

    Gerry,

The 603 is a part of a pack I'm putting together. Still have a couple more activities to run through, but I'm hoping to have them all up in the file library within the next few weeks.

You're very welcome and I like to hear that! The enjoyment of both others and myself running these activities always makes it worth the time!

One more round-trip to close out the season. This coal empty is train 866.

    Exiting the Connaught Tunnel

Meeting a loaded coal train at Redgrave

    Approaching Forde

Taking the right turn at KC Jct.

Arriving into Golden Yard to tie the train down. The sun is beginning to come up.

I never did buy RP. I might consider it. It'll need renovating which is easy enough to do.
