I'm still planning to release at least a beta version of my MTA R143 subway cars this year. I was hoping to get much work on it done now, while I've got time, but sadly, my computer doesn't work right now and I need to borrow my brother's every time I plan to work.
But it's still early in the year and there is much time left until December, so I am confident that I can do it.
Stay healthy!
Migrating to Blender slowed me down a lot. While I've done a lot of work wityh blender, I'm satisfied with none it at this point. Any version of 3Dcrafter will not install on my machine... no clue why... and there is no longer any sort of support from Amabilis. So I still use 3DCanvas 7.120. So.. Anything coming from me is going to take time. Some things I have in progress are:
NS MOW Tie Gondola - different model than I released like 20 years ago
Conrail Transfer Caboose - Higher details and a new model
RS-1325
DOT-111 Tank for KT CLAYS Slurry
SafetyKleen Tank
and possibly an Evans Side-Slider

Pete !
Are you using win7-64 or win 10-64 ?
I use WIN7 64
Unrelated and non-important stuff:
I have no time windows 10 sillines... Got it for free, used it for 2 months... got frustrated with MS shenanigans... (This is MY system, not yours to mess with) So now I maintain 1 machine at homewith WIN7 for compatability reasons for things that don't work in Linux... everything else is now Linux.

I got Windows 10 and I'm using 3DC 9.3 with no issues. I once had issues with a Windows 10 update that prevented me from using it. It was a update that Windows wouldn't let me remove or roll back. I got an app called Move On Boot. I was able to delete the %$$### update and 3DC was back working again. Some .dill files had been removed by the Windows update and the .exe got jacked as well by it. But you mentioned you're no longer using Windows 10. 3DC 9.3 should also work on Windows 7 as well.
I used 3DCANVAS for everything starting in 2001 up until around 2020 or so. I Hated what Richard did to version 9 of 3D *Crafter* so I stayed with the VERY STABLE (at the time) version 7.120. Like it or not, I migrated to Windows 10 when some of the products I was using stopped supporting Windows 7 after Microsoft dropped support.
On Windows 10, 3DC version 7.120 became unstable. It would constantly revert back to the freeware version causing me to register it again and again. I would often have issues opening files or have the program mysteriously crash on me. Version 9.5 seemed more stable but I was not too fond of the interface and It would still have issues with crashing.
This came to a head when Version 2.8 of Blender arrived with its vastly improved user interface. I migrated to Blender and just didn't look back. Now I only have 3D "Crafter" installed to migrate legacy shapes or DST files as I had a short period where I was using TSM. (and hated that too)
Blender really is the way to go after 2020... We have the exporters. It's a rough start as it's a complex toolset... but it becomes intuitive pretty quickly as long as you *practice*.
