    Default Grafton Interlude

Route: Chris van Wagoner's fabulous B&O West End. Thank you Chris for finally making an Appalachian route where the trees completely cover the terrain - no peek-a-boo's where you can see the terrtex.
Trains: BLW & BLW/ZT plus freeware from the Trainsim f/l

I'd never been further south than Philly, so when my firm offered me a chance to negotiate a deal with a client in St. Louis, I jumped at the chance. And since I was an ardent fan of Trains magazine I knew that this trip justified the expense of color film. When we stopped for a 10-minute interlude at Grafton I jumped out to take some photos of the trains and surroundings. Here's the stream-styled nose of our E6 streamliner; she's a beauty!

The station pilot, an SW-1, slowly moves in to remove a diner.

Still lots of steam in these parts …

I got permission to nose around the roundhouse area; these B&O folks are really very friendly.

The shop foreman just hollered at me to get back to the platform; the engineer wants to give me a tour of the cab! I'll just take a shot of this Pullman on my way back.

Here, and also here. Both files are necessary.

Fortunately, a Kodachrome-toting brakeman down in the yards was on duty today so we get to follow those reefers after they had passed out of my sight ...
