Thread: Train Air Sounds

    Default Train Air Sounds

    Could somebody clue me in on the air sounds in the videos below as these trains get going? There's a shhhi here, and a shhhiis there, a yshhhh here and a isshiss there. Some quick, some not. Please don't reply with something like "it's various things". I'm looking for specifics. Maybe some people here know locomotives enough to identify the individual sounds?

    Those short air bursts that you hear are independent brake bailing off sounds.

    Quick, snappy ones can be the "spitters". They blow condensation off of areas where you do not want corrosion.
