    Default AI traffic differences to Msts question

    It was suggested I raise the subject here - I have made an activity in AE but am just testing it with OR atm, so I can view the ai and see that they
    are behaving right. In doing this I have found two of the AI trains, in parallel lines are stuck at an all red signal display and and am wondering why this is.

    I do have another AI train miles up the track on the same line moving in the same northerly direction ahead, would this cause the lights to be red? Even though that train is well ahead? The train ahead is a slower freight train but I am not sure the train behind would ever catch up to it before the route ends given it has about a 45 min head start

    So do signals work differently in OR or is there a way to make the track sections smaller that the signals cover?

    Is there another signal between the train up the line and the one stuck at the red light? I presume there is, since the behavior strikes you as odd. The signals do work differently between MSTS and OR, but I couldn't tell you exactly how. But does the activity work in MSTS? What is this route, anyway?

    Bottom line...hard to say for sure

    The route is one i got from Steam4me https://msts.steam4me.net/routes/nsw_gsm.html - Harden to Kapooka - my trains are stuck at the signals near the signal box after junee station in the harden direction - the freight train is further up that line

    i will have to test in msts, it was just easier with OR i though given i could look at the other trains.

    Whenever you encounter a problem in OR, always post a copy of the log ( log is on your desktop by default -- checkbox "Logging" on the opening window of OR ) -- you never know, the log could provide a clue to someone. It could very well be, that the block in front of the AI traffic has not cleared, or the track is reserved for another AI train, that has yet to arrive. Need more information, signals not in my "pay grade" --- ebnertra000 has signal knowledge.

    ah okay - wel i do have a log, - i cant make any sense of it though:
    i have ot post it in tow parts due to its lenght - i tried to attach the log but it is 19.9kb which seems to be too big and i dont know what to delete from it to make it fit

    The HUD Dispatch View (F5+SHIFT) will show the location of all your AI.

    The Dispatch Window (Ctrl+9) will also show the AI and the player train on a map.

    Hey Heruhaha93, I should have been a little clearer about posting the log, most folks just zip up the log file and then use the attachments (Go Advanced ) to attach the zip file. Sorry'bout that.

    Each time you run OR the log rewrites itself.

    This could be your problem.
    or especially this one:
    UseLocationPassingPaths = False
    go to Options/Experimental Tab and check the box that says "Location-linked passing path processing"

    The missing cabview textures ( ace files ) those should be fixed...OR can tolerate errors...but...if you have too many, the simulation could choke. Best to fix them if possible. I know the log looks like gibberish now ( does to all of us at first )...you'll soon learn how to read it...a learning curve.

    The other log entries I'm seeing, are all pretty normal for MSTS files that have not been corrected for OR...for instance, the following:

    thanks - i dont know how to replace the missing textures on some of the aussie trains i got or what "found a suffix n/m which could not be parsed, would need me to do either

    as for the train passing at danger - in the scenario, i was well away from everyhing else - i went through a red light up at Harden - i had switched to manual mode but then pased through the red signal (the one on the track monitor ) forgetting to tab it - i was just trying to test and see if my loco could go and couple up some grain hoppers i had as static objects and then take them and attach them to my main freight train (took an hour of just trying to get the switching right, but i succeeded, although it seemed i was then too heavy actually move the whole freight haul)

    but all that aside - i was in all the way up in harden like 100 or so kilometers away from Junee, so i dont know how that would cause the xpt to stay stuck

    the xpt had just been a junee station and then left hte station with a green signal, only to stop 20 metres or so up at the red signal

    the other halted AI train there is Junee i was sending on a paral track to go over to a short track to connect to a grain hopper - i dont know how to get Ai traffic to couple items so i was just telling it to go ver and stop close to a grain hopper - hopefully close enough to couple on - will AI do this or would it take the stationary grain hopper to be a red signal and so not advance?
