BNSF Seligman Sub Circa 2016
With everything going on, the good news is I've been able to get started on my next project. As the song goes:
On the first part of the journey, I was looking at all the life.
There were plants and birds and rocks and things. There was sand and hills and rings.
The first thing I met was a fly with a buzz, and the sky with no clouds.
The heat was hot and the ground was dry.
But the air was full of sound,
So much more to come!

I didn't expect to have 2 weeks between runs, but due to a miscue that's how it happened.
This trip is an early morning start on one of the hottest eastbounds on the railroad, Z-LACNYC9A. We departed Needles about 0330.
The sun came up quickly on the trip east. We passed the M-KGMWIN1A at Valentine.
This Z9 was powered up but the hills still stunted progress. We got her legs stretched out by Pica, coming down from Yampai summit.
The San Francisco peaks provide a dramatic background for eastbounds at Darling.
We arrived into Winslow at around 10AM. A 6 1/2 hour run over almost 300 miles is a trip most railroaders will certainly take!

Headed back west yesterday, this time on the Q-NYCLAC1A. This train is notorious for having run-through NS power.

Thursday was a run of Amtrak 4 across the Seligman Sub. He mustn't have gotten the best run in California, because we left Needles 1 hour and 35 minutes late.
Crossing the Colorado River
Arriving into Kingman to do station work.
Highballing Seligman, a slower stack train pulled over in Seligman Siding to let us pass.
Flagstaff station about 1 hour and 45 minutes late.
We only lost a little bit of time going across this busy railroad. DS 10 and 11 kept the people's train moving!

This past Saturday we ventured westbound on BNSF 8027 West, a Kansas City to San Bernardino vehicle train.
Departing Winslow, AZ.
The Flagstaff turn held for us at Canyon Diablo, they were following us and will open up at Purina once eastbound traffic permits.
A track foreman was doing an inspection run Flagstaff to Bellemont, we met him in town.
Heading west approaching Crozier Canyon, an opposing clear signal is a familiar sight on this mainline.
Arrived into Needles and tied down on the running track.
