Attachment 78826
I recently rediscovered my childhood love of MSTS. After playing MSTS for a while, I went searching to see if any of the old payware companies still existed. After some googling I came across TrainSimulations.net and the MRL Muallan Pass route. Yeah, $35 isn't exactly cheap, but it was about the same as what new routes cost circa 2010, so I didn't have qualms about the price.
My last Open Rails install was from 2011 and was version 0.7.0. WOW, they have come a long way. Even though the camera controls take a lot of getting used to, most of the time I feel like I'm playing an upgraded version of MSTS. It's definitely the spiritual successor to the original, and I'm quite happy with it.
However, I have two complaints:
1) When resuming a save game, the next signal does not appear on the track monitor. Signal indications do not being to progress normally until that next signal is passed, then everything goes back to normal. Not sure if this is a setup issue on my end or a quirk of Open Rails.
2) That there isn't more content like this available!! I love the heavy-duty-western-us-mountain-railroading genre and would gladly pay for more routes, but sadly the market for this kind of content seems far too small to see much development.
Fantastic job, guys. My hat is off to you, it's great fun!
