Thread: Where is the Consist Editor???

  1. #1

Question Where is the Consist Editor???

Where is this new consist editor??

I can't seem to find a download link for this consist editor. I can only fine the Route Explorer to download (which I have done, but there is no consist editor included with the Route Explorer as far as I can tell)!? But I don't want the Route Explorer really, I am only after the consist editor.

Also, author's web site http://koniec.org/tsre5/ has broken links on how to use the consist editor which is not really helpful at all!

    Consist Editor
The Consist Editor is a built-in part of the TSRE5 application. It is enabled by supplying a command line
option to TSRE5 when the program is started. This option contains the value of "--conedit". This is step
that is accomplished by the supplied ConsistEditor.bat file.
    • To use the Consist Editor you must have a version of TSRE5 that is V0.6124 or higher.
    • You need to edit the settings.txt file and set the path to your MSTS/OR routes/trains directory,
    Example: gameRoot = F:/train simulator
    • You run the ConsistEditor.bat file from the command line or you can use Windows Explorer to copy
the ConsistEditor.bat file and then use "Paste Shortcut" to save it to your desktop. You can then use
the new desktop icon to start the Consist Editor.

    Thanks for the clarification.

Seems this is a bit of an obscure way to get and use the consist editor though(?)

Not really. A lot of programs use a .bat file to run another program that is built within a main program.

But anyway glad it is cleared up for you now because it is a great consist editor.

You can just make a nice windows shortcut to CE if you want. Just make a shortcut to TSRE exe and add "--conedit" in it's properties.
TSRE use .bat file because it is independent from TSRE directory location, unlike windows shortcuts.

Yes, thanks. That is exactly what I have done.
