    Just out of curiosity......but didn't the merger between the New York Central and Pennsylvania Railroad happen on ‎February 1, 1968 not 1966? Intill the government took over on April 1 1976

    Correct. But there was a general renumbering while the merger was in planning to get the roster prepared for the merger. The stories about how the merger was poorly planned, although based in reality, are nonetheless exaggerated.

    NYC renumberings used the NYC font, and PRR renumberings used the big yellow numerals. It would be cool to have second generation units from both roads depicted with their post-1966 renumbering so that they could all operate, along with PC units, in the same era.

    Ok that makes since. Though the merger was a little before my time (74 baby)....And I think your right on the 2nd gen locomotives. I guess just sit back and wait and see what happens
