    Default The Elusive SD50 demostrator.

Well, I've got problems, and I'm going to sound crazy. The next unit I wanted to do was the SD50 demostator. However, it's existence is defying me.

On this page was the only image I was able to find of it so far. http://www.northeast.railfan.net/diesel101.html

I also saw that RRMODS made a version for Trainz, but I can't find much info on that one. Please help. If it helps, it's EMD 1983.

If your brave, ask on RYPN. Someone is bound to have pictures sitting around collecting dust.

Um, I'm sorry if I'm going to sound like a wuss, but could you ask for me? Let it be known that I enjoy that site, but I'm reluctant to join it until I get involved in rail preservation.

If you don't want to, I guess I'll man up then.

    Wink

I'm one of the more disliked persons on the site.

Parker, I posted a message for you on RYPN.

You owe me a beer and an asprin mate.

Only if you knew some of what I've had to endure on that site.

Um...I could do that, but I have no idea what your address is.

I'd also have to explain why I'm sending someone beer and asprin to someone I hardly know.

But seriously, thanks. I await replies.

There seems to be very little on that unit your looking for.

Maybe this would be some help?

Well, I already looked there, and that's another SD50 Demo, borrowed from a Seaboard order to test the SD60 electronics.

1983 was likely plucked from KCS 704-713 to do a little trade-showing, but not much demonstrating.

The SD50 concept had been demonstrating since the SD40Xs (KCS 700-703).

KCS 700-703 (1978) and NW 6500-6505 (1980) were short frame units with old style blower.

KCS 704-713 (1981) were first long frame SD50 with old style blower.

SBD 8500-8524 (1982) were first long frame units with newer blower.
