    Default Cab Editing

    Hi all

Hope everyone is safe ! Forgive my typos as my one good eye is giving me problems tonite. I need help on editing a cabview for SP SD45R #7399 by Anthony Morris. When looking outside the cab on the engineers side, the mirror to check the rear of the train is blocking my view of the track ahead. I was wondering what the procedure would be to remove this mirror and hopefully other cabiew rearview mirrors on the outside of the cabs on other locomotives?

If you would remove the mirror (if that would be possible, e.g. by alpha-ing it out) you would also lose it in the external views of the model since it is an integral part of the model's shape.

You can however move the headout view to a position where the mirror does not block the view forward. Open the .eng file with Wordpad or any other Unicode reading program (I am using 'ConTEXT') and search for the term "headout". The three figures in the headout line
    HeadOut ( 1.61 3.451 5.583 )
determine the position of the head in the headout view. 1.61 is the position on the X-axis (left/right, any positive figure is right of center), 3.451 is the position on the y-axis (height), and 5.583 is the position on the z-axis (front/rear, any positive figure is forward of the model's pivot point). You have to alter those figures to modifiy the headout position. To see the effect, leave the sim and load the engine again. It is a bit of a trial and error thing. Make a backup copy of the .eng file before starting in case anything goes wrong.
