New routes don't appear in list

When I add a new route to the Routes subdirectory, when I start up MSTS it doesn't appear in the list of available routes

What routes do you have already?
What route are you trying to add?

Where do you have MSTS installed?
Can't be in any Windows managed folder. Programs or Programs (x86) is a no no.

IIRC, in addition to the directory issue, a route has to have at least one path. I've run into a few that don't have that, and as a result don't show up in the routes list. Adding a path with the Open Rails Track Viewer, or TSRE, can fix that.
