The screen being able to display a 1080p resolution (1920 x 1080) is a very different thing from your graphics processor being able to run TSW2 at a playable framerate at that resolution. My work laptop that I'm using right now has 1080p but it could no way play TSW2 in any way. In the same way, your car's speedometer might be able to read all the way up to 260km/h, but the car itself will never reach that speed without upgrades.

4k (3840 x 2860, four times as big as 1080p) is extremely demanding and only high end GPUs can run games smoothly at that resolution.

My desktop houses a GeForce RTX 2070 Super and TSW2 is the only game which causes the cooling fan to operate.

    at what resolution?
I am running OR at 4k on a 2070 and I can get up to 100fps, the 2070 is running at 50% according to GPUZ.
    Cheers

    You addressing me, Derek?
If so, I was referring to TSW2, not Open Rails. I run TSW2 at the monitor default of 1920x1080 @ 60hz. Ditto for Open Rails.
I don't run any games at 4K - can't see the point as the graphics on most of them are several generations old.

The fan I mentioned is the case cooling fan, not the GPU or CPU fan(s). My system is completely quiet and all fans idle until I fire up TSW2 ..... and that's when the case exhaust fan kicks in at a faster speed.

It is an HP EliteBook x360 G2, it only has an Intel Internal Graphics 620 video card and is not intended for running 3D games.
