Very nice Bruce, thanks very much.

If it's green, it must be seen.

Good one, Bruce. I got that on a DVD of the famous "Terminus" documentary about Waterloo station, along with the classic London-Brighton in four minutes, and another about installing colour lights and panels to replace semaphores.

    Glad you liked it, lads.
Just one of those random "recommendations" that YT throws up so I thought I'd pass it along.

    Those were the days indeed!
Mind you it's difficult to believe that some 50 years later the British railway industry now imports nearly all it's engines, etc.!

You're not the only nation to cop this type of thing, and not only with trains.

Down Here the NSW government gave the contract for the light rail system in Sydney to a Spanish mob and the new Sydney Harbour ferries went offshore (pun intended) as well.
We've lost our car industry....that went belly-up when Ford and Holden pulled out. Not one vehicle is manufactured in Oz anymore and once we had a very large vehicle manufacturing business, including exports.

    What killed it all?
Labour costs. Asian labour was/is cheaper than what our unions would accept.
