I watched a CB&Q (yes I'm old) come off the tracks at Lagrange IL ripping up track for a half a block. Watching this video sure brought back memories and sent chills down my spine!!!!

Within 25 hours they had got the entire train either removed from the track or back on it to be towed away. I reckon that was very good going, given the location. Now all they have to do is get the bridge inspected and the track replaced and they are good to go. I suspect that they will initially put plain track in and replace the cross-over as and when.

You don't often see that many cranes turn up in short order!

I only saw one derail in my lifetime and I am always amazed how the track crumples up like spagetti.
