Thread: 1950's (and sixties) propane tank cars

Default 1950's (and sixties) propane tank cars

Paul Charland was kind enough to swap some parts around on his tank car model to represent a T105 pressure tank car used for propane (and other commodities) from the late forties into the late sixties (starting in the sixties, these cars were taken out of propane service and rebuilt for other uses and lasted into the 1980's).

This is a high poly (~6120), high detail model by Paul Charland in TS Modeler.
Models features Tim Muir couplers and air hoses along with wheel and spring textures.
Thanks to Geoff Brown for testing.

These cars were common in rural locations, for example the B&M Connecticut River Line. Specific dealers would generally take a consistent set of cars that were assigned to their supplier or even that dealer. A Fuelane dealer, for example, wouldn't get a Texgas car. However in the late forties this constraint was suspended due to a nationwide shortage of propane tank cars as post-war demand ramped up. Cars had their domes painted white to signify their participation in a nationwide pool.

    Now in the file library.

Are these MSTS friendly or really only ORTS?

At 6120 polys, modern PC's and video cards should generally not have an issue if you are using MSTS.

Thanks for the tankers. These will be a nice addition to any 1950s sessions I may want to run.

I did find a bug with Union Texas Petroleum Tanker. There's no texture file included for the dome of that car.

Please confirm that I haven't messed up something on my end.
