read up (Or watch videos) on Low Poly Modeling with blender it will lead into materials and texturing techniques. (Though your question is a bit vague and I can't tell how far you have gotten with modeling)

In case you haven't seen them, I would suggest watching the first 15 videos in the Blender Fundamentals 2.8. They are short videos that will show you how to get around blender and the handful of tools that you will use for mesh modelling.

I would then suggest the following videos which use background images for reference. These are for a car but the same (hard surface modelling) techniques are also used to build locomotives, buildings, robots, guns, or whatever is on your blueprint.

The following video is more lengthy but at the beginning shows how to sale your blueprints so that they are to real world measurements.

2 years into using Blender and I still watch videos to learn new techniques and improve my work flow.
I resemble this remark. With Blender, you can learn a good amount pretty quickly... the rest seems to take forever... and with the rate that they introduce changes, fixes, and features... you can't get too attached to a specific way of doing something as they might improve it.2 years into using Blender and I still watch videos to learn new techniques and improve my workflow"

BTW, the comments I made were not to be seen as negative... it's more related to how impressed I am with Blender in general and the fact there has been a lot of improvements in the last 2 years.

Agree with you, sir. I tried many software before blender. 3ds Max, Maya, Houdini Apprentice, and even 3D cad software such as AutoCAD. The level I reached in 1 month with blender, I couldn't do it with the others. And yeah, how can I forget the UI. Just so pleasing to look at. It's true what they've written, "Free software never looked this awesome."
