Engine & Train Brake Initial Settings

Hi all,

I'm sure that this has been covered before but I just can't find it in the forums.

How do you set the initial value of the engine brake and train brake? I think it's buried somewhere in the ENG or CVF files.

Hi Fred,

Believe it's the "Controller" section of the ENG file.

Zero is off - One is on.

Brake_Train - the last number [0.6] in my example.
Brake_Engine - the last number [1] in my example.

		Brake_Train ( 0 1 0.025 0.6 
			NumNotches ( 5 
				Notch ( 0 0 TrainBrakesControllerReleaseStart ) 
				Notch ( 0.2 0 TrainBrakesControllerRunningStart ) 
				Notch ( 0.3 0 TrainBrakesControllerSelfLapStart ) 
				Notch ( 0.4 1 TrainBrakesControllerApplyStart ) 
				Notch ( 1 0 TrainBrakesControllerEmergencyStart )

Here are parameters that give much more realistic operation :

Brake Train ( 0 1 0.05 0.25
NumNotches ( 5
Notch ( 0 0 TrainBrakesControllerReleaseStart
" ( 0.2 0 TrainBrakesControllerRunningStart
" ( 0.25 0 TrainBrakesControllerMinimalReductionStart
" ( 0.3 1 TrainBrakesControllerGraduatedSelfLapLimitedStart
" ( 0.95 0 TrainBrakesControllerEmergencyStartStart

Are those parameters good for any engines? EMD, GE, Alco and others? even RDC's?

And from any period that they were posted as freeware or available as payware?

If you read the techdocs,"MinimalReduction" is a valid token.They work fine on all diesels that I have tried,and electrics that do NOT have a combined power/brake handle
