    Default Davis values (update)

    As an update to the discussion from back in September,

    https://www.trainsim.com/vbts/showth...1-Davis-values

    It would appear that Peter has successfully addressed the unrealistically high starting friction forces (the stickiness found in the 0 to 5 MPH range). With the same exact test consist, I can now get a train of 90 cars with a Davis friction block rolling with one SD40-2. Who is gonna be first to set up a parallel install of Mullan Pass and replace the MSTS friction block with Davis values and see if all the activities still function as designed?

    Yep, you've noticed also, I think this is all in preparation to address coupler issues. It is good work, thanks to Peter.
    Some new ORTS parameters were introduced as well...they are underlined below:
    Code:
    [Note--there is always a "space" preceding the first include line--forum software does not show this]
    include ( "..\\FXE_ES44AC_4683.eng" )
    Wagon (
    	Mass ( 188.3t )
    	include ( "..\\..\\Common.inc\\Locomotives\\Couplers\\Std_TypeF_Coupler.inc" )
    	include ( "..\\..\\Common.inc\\Locomotives\\Brakes\\Std_Loco_Brakes.inc" )
    	ORTSAdhesion ( ORTSCurtius_Kniffler ( 6.441 21.049 0.161 0.7 ) )
    	ORTSNumberAxles ( 6 )
    	ORTSAdhesion ( ORTSSlipWarningThreshold ( 62 ) )
    	ORTSBearingType ( Low )
    	ORTSDavis_A ( 1814.13 )
    	ORTSDavis_B ( 41.3074 )
    	ORTSDavis_C ( 8.510148 )
    	Comment ( == Assumptions -Locomotive diesel/electric - speed - 65mph (105km/h), Low Torque Bearing, 6 axles, frontal area - 14.8m2, Wagon Weight - 188.3 ton (metric), Drag 1.0 == )
    )
    Engine (
    	Effects (
    		DieselSpecialEffects (
    			Exhaust1 (
    			0 4.81 -2.85
    			0 1 0
    			0.18
    			)
    		)
    	)
    	ORTSDriveWheelWeight ( 188.3t )
    	ORTSNumberDriveAxles ( 6 )
    	include ( "..\\..\\Common.inc\\Locomotives\\Std_Eng_ES44AC.inc" )
    	include ( "..\\..\\Common.inc\\Locomotives\\Brakes\\Dynamic\\ES44AC_188-3t_DynBrakes.inc" )
    )
    I think my "frontal area" (14.8 sq. meters) is too high...appreciate feedback or references to correct measurements.
    Cheers, Gerry
