More reconstruction in the south
Been picking away at modifying Jerry's KD Subdivision making it more suitable to Open Rails.
All the transfer textures under the rails were removed en masse via Route Riter, the clunky track-side vegetation clumps deleted, and Terrtex replaced from freeware Trainsimulations Scenic Sub. Will remove all abandoned trackage, eliminate any zero degree nodes as not necessary for Open Rails, remove flange squeal sound sources as redundant (ORTS has its own coded in, and they don't keep squealing when your train stalls), and will ultimately use TSRE to mosaic the ROW properly and place new track-side vegetation as forest regions.
In the meantime, I am using the Duff Mountain pimple to test Open Rails physics according to real world consists from the L&N Family Lines SBD SD40/C30-7 era (coal trains were 72 cars), the CSX SD60/C40-8 era (coal trains were 90 cars), and the AC4400/ES44 era (coal trains were 100 cars).
When using the NS or SOU high hoods as paired helpers, Ive seen some numbers inferring that the physics tables for these HH units are not yet perfected. HP low, fuel consumption high (SD45 range).
Simply making the first pass at mass-deleting the transfers under the track cleared up the distortion with the ballast edges on the track textures that goes way back to the MILW RMD era. Transfers simply are not the solution with Open Rails.
The oddball named transfers that remained after the first pass show the transfers triggering the distortion effect.
