Default MISSION IMPOSSIBLE : Aliasing Shapes & Textures?

In order to save space, I have been trying to look for methods that might actually work in reducing the size occupied by huge trainsets.

I put textures of 2-3 folders into a common folder and named it as "common.textures" and properly aliased the files in the shape file. But those textures are invisible.

Is there any way we can alias shapes and textures into folders like common.shapes and common.textures to save space?

Seems like Mission Impossible, isn't it?

    Benji, do you copy? πŸ˜‚

That's all, Gentlemen. Please guide a layman like meπŸ™.

    Hi Ashraf,
    One step at a time!
Using the default Class50 and putting the .ace files in common.textures\class50, these entries work!

    images ( 3
    image ( ..\\common.textures\\class50\\class5001.ACE )
    image ( ..\\common.textures\\class50\\class5002.ACE )
    image ( ..\\common.textures\\class50\\class5003.ACE )
    )

Don't ask me how just ..\\ works, but it does!!

In common with aliasing in other parts of MSTS, separators // and / may also be used, but NOT \.

    Cheers,
    Ged

    Hi Ashraf,
I was a little too late to edit my last message!

    The next step!!

Shape files may be treated similarly with the following entry in the .eng file :

    WagonShape ( ..\\common.shapes\\Class50\\class50.s)

The .sd file is only required by MSTS, and should be placed in the common.shapes folder with the shape file with its first line :

    shape ( ..\\common.shapes\\class50\\class50.s

    Cheers,
    Ged
