A few progress shots taken along the Timmins Yard. To the east of the roundhouse will be the Hollinger Mine, one of the biggest gold mines in North America. To to west is the mile and a half long Mattagami Spur, with a few more customes and ending in two large lumber mills.

A few shots of the Hollinger Mine progress. The tramway was used to take tailings from the Hollinger Mine to the back of the McIntyre Mine where they were used to fill in an early open pit operation. The orange struction over Highway 101 was to prevent ore from falling on the traffic below.

The McIntyre Mine can ve seen in the upper left of the photo of the Hollinger Mine, about two miles away in Schumacher.

Time: 0610 Train 312, the way freight, waits for Train 415 from Englehart to enter the
Timmins Yard before working it's way to Welsh.

Time: 0825 Train 49, The Northland, arrives in Timmins from North Bay and Toronto.
The Timmins Yard crew is also taking a dozen open hoppers to the McIntyre Mine to exchange
    for loads.

Time: 0930 The yard crew returns with a dozen loads from the McIntyre Mine.

Time: 0945 The yard crew makes up train 46 before starting to deliver the local cars
    that arrived on Train 415.

Time: 1145 Train 311, the way freight, returns from Welsh with a few empties used for
    woodchips.

Time: 1310 Train 46 prepares to depart for the trip to Toronto, and the power for Train
416 heads to their train for a 1330 departure.

Time: 1635 Train 47 from Toronto and North Bay arrives.

Time: 1830 The Northland, Train 50, departs timmins for the overnight trip south to
    North Bay and Toronto.

Time: 2035 After their station stop, Train 151 gets turned on the wye and put away for
    the night.

Down to the two mile long Mattagami Spur to go.

Looks real good Paul. I always enjoy your progress shots.
Did you redo the 54 Ford trucks in these shots?

    I Randy,

I did redo one straight and one tractor trailer for Star Transfer, they were and independent company that mostly hauled for Ontario Northland from the freight sheds. ONTC did eventually buy them but not until the mid-1970s.

Hi Paul. I see you did a black with white stripe passenger car there. I remember sitting with my great grandfather on a trip from Jasper to Vancouver in those days.

We use to take CN from North Bay to Ottawa when the train was all black and white (OK grey). One winter night we had to take a siding in Algonquin Park to let a freight go west. They didn't get the train in far enough and the freight took off out left rear lantern, the conductor shit himself knowing we were that close. To top that off we hit a skunk at 6:30 in the morning and still had a half hour to go to get into the station!

I would have been 7 or 8 at the time. I knew by the conductor's reaction it wasn't a good thing!
