Empty Mullan Ballast Cars

How would one going about turning one the Herzog ballast cars that came with the Mullan Expansion pack into an empty one?

Depends on how the car is set up. Is the load in the car an FA or part of the car shape itself?

If it's an FA, you can just remove the line(s) from the WAG file, and adjust the weight.

If it's part of the main shape, you'll need to find what texture has the load on it (Usually, there's a texture just dedicated to the load.), and alpha out that portion, in addition to changing the weight in the WAG file.

Make sure to create a folder just for the empty ballast hoppers so they don't mess with the loaded hoppers.

Unfortunately, you cannot alpha out the ballast, as there is no "inside" flooring under the load. Would require an FA to have the inside of the car.

Thanks for the information. That's what I was afraid of. It was just a thought, you have loaded ballast cars then why not have empty versions as well.

There is the possible reskin of the red and white Herzog ballast car.

There is, yes, however considering I barely have time for anything ORTS/MSTS related, it wouldn't be me doing the reskin.

I did a bunch of MEC stuff last year, and that was my last big project when it came to repaints. I just haven't had interest in that section of ORTS. Been busy with work, and running trains on the Mullan on my days off, if I am not playing MLB or the sorts on the Xbox with friends.

Would if I could Rick, as that does look pretty good, but I haven't been able to purchase anything from DW in a few years now. Several emails to Scott and nothing, oh well. Last purchase was the BNSF ES44's. Shrugs.
