    Cool Texture file conversioni

    Colleagues,

I notice that some objects are now showing up using the .dds format of texture files
which renders them ORTS only and I assume TSRE only as well. I prefer that at least
most of my routes be usable in either MSTS or ORTS so is there a utility that will
convert .dds files to .ace format.

You can always open it in your paint program and save it as a .tga and then aceit.

I have PaintShop X5 and X6, and neither of those will open a .dds file. Comes back with invalid data error,
so I guess I'll have to hope that someone will come up with a direct converter along the lines of Tgatools or
    similar.

Thanks Tom, worked like a charm. I only occasionally run into this kind of thing
and perhaps being an old dinosaur (age 82) I like to create routes that are compatible
with MSTS as well as ORTS, although I have two routes under construction that have
some subtle error on a world file that I cannot find, which prevents uses of MSTS/RE
or running them in MSTS on just one or two tiles, so those will be ORTS only routes
    when released.

I use paint.net, which opens .dds files without trouble. Generally very good, too - it's where I do all my image and texture work
