WIN 10 Home & YAHOO

Every time I start a program, a YAHOO window opens up in the background, it also happens when I first start my conputer.

I don't use YAHOO but it is very annoying.

I see no mention of it in the " Start-up " setting menue and no mention of it in the " Uninstall Programs " section of settings. If I do a search, I get internet hits about YAHOO but no mention of it being on my computer.

Maybe I need to know how to limit "SEARCH " to my computer!

It seems to be embedded into WIN 10

Is there a way to get rid of this irritation other than changing to LINEUX?????

Get a free copy of Malwarebytes, install it and run it. If this is some kind of virus, it will find it.

I tried some suggestions and they didn't pan out but then I did a search for files containing " yahoo " and there were about 6 and I right clicked on each and told to " DELETE " .

It didn't look like anything was happening cause it did not ask if I really wanted to do that like usual.

Then I clicked on them again telling it to delete and a message popped up saying the files were no longer there so I looked in the recycle bin and there they were. I emptied the bin and restarted my computer and yahoo is finally gone.

The search didn't give the whole path to the files so I don't know where they were but all but one were small like 13 mb and one was 241 mb.

Sorry for bothering you guys but sometimes a guy has to ask and like in a store, your right next to the darn thing!!!!

It shouldn't be a bother at all, that's what this forum is for, help required on all manner of things and assistance given by our resident experts of IT and computer gaming, don't be shy in asking questions.

OK, so from reading your post, i think you got some kind of a virus on your system. What kind of virus and category is not really the point that i am trying to make.

Programs opening when you start your computer, programs starting up without touching your mouse or even keyboard, or even programs running that you never installed, corrupted files (for example you got your music and when you play those files there is strange pausing in them or sound despairing and even different other music playing) and so on... All of this is a sign that your system is infected.

So the solution is only one. You have to completely format your drive. That's it. Viruses can stay dormant on your system untill "trigger" is "met" and then everything goes to sh*t.

But first, what Charland said. This is for the files that are able to be saved. (on the above example of your music file been corrupted and still playing in your music player, but the sound is corrupted... has no solution)
Run Malwarebytes to try to get your files back. Copy those somewhere safe and run Malwarebytes on it again on the new location just to be sure. Also you can open your files if possible to see if everything is ok (text files, word documents and so on)

Why Malwarebytes? Couse it is the only one who can do decent job removing infections, to the point that you can actually do something in the time being. Copy your files to a safe spot.

The final step is then to format your drive, and reinstall the thing that you had on it.
