I could already envision how the 45 is going to look in the new paint - sweeeet!

The trackmobile leaves the big pair in the yard, waiting to be hauled back out on the next hauler.

I really like it, it simulates going out of the ordinary. I LIKE IT VERY MUCH !!

    Pros:

    New model SP-ized GP40-2

New model empty 5-unit 48' spine car (never a part of the CR C40-8W mail train set)

New style SP cabviews with proper SP/SSW/Speed lettering rear facing view

New trailer textures for 48' 5 unit spine cars

Resurfacing of the SP and DTTX twinstack textures that were part of the withdrawn and hard to get SP SD70M set.

    Cons:

Still the same old undersized Twinstack container F/A's from the SP SD70M set. The shadowing effect that precludes you from upsizing the containers without retexturing the bottom shadowed containers is still there.

I don't recall ever seeing a prototype Thrall well car in DTTX yellow with APL lettering similar to the blue cars. Anybody got proto photos?

SP at the time only had the DRGW Burnham shops remaining open and very few SP speed lettering repaint jobs happened on SP's dime. Most were the result of outside rebuild programs and new deliveries. Aside from the new number series GP40M and SD40-2M programs from M-K, SP took 100 random units from the deadlines awaiting shop work and did a sale-rebuild-leaseback deal with EMD. These units kept their old SP numbers, returned with speed lettering and power by the mile stickers. About 40 of these 100 bad-ordered cores that came from SD45T-2 and SD45R were later sold off to CIT and became CEFX lease units that kept their SP numbers and speed lettering and that were later scattered to short lines like Kyle and I&O.

Thanks Neil and everybody! Yes, the Trackmobile is the TigerTrains offering with some new logos applied to it for its new owner.

3603 in her new paint leads the other two SD45Rs that aren't in Bloody Nose paint on the point of a lumber train cruising through the Oregon countryside.
