I totally agree Ged, after many hours trying to fathom what is going on I am giving up.

The only problem is that I enjoy Passenger Train Activities, for a number of reasons
switching just does not float my boat.

It's not just finding how to download a route, one route required payment for the "final"
patch, which is okay but I could not pay with my credit card, I had to go through a whole
lot of guff with PayPal which by the way ended with me cancelling my PayPal account because
the whole process was so involved that PayPal no longer recognised me.

    Anyway, lesson learned.

    End of rant.

    Cheers

Great question! Activity creators release activities for payware routes and limited access routes all the time. They do, however, make it clear in the activity description as to what route the activity is for. In this case, the creator has clearly mentioned that it's for SRGT v2 (multiple times actually), which is a wonderful route whose access is limited to people that the creator knows. A lot of them browse the file library, so I don't see what's wrong in uploading the activity here. A little reading from the downloader's side wouldn't hurt at all.

There is no patch for the route, it was never released on trainsim. Anirudh said that SRGT v2 was slated to be released normally, but then the route got leaked during its testing phase without his knowledge. So the final version of his route is only available to people he knows and trusts.

There are multiple fantastic passenger activities to try out, Daniel! Try any activity by Suraj Paul, Paras Kadam or Arsheel Kasmani. They make the best activities in my opinion. IR is a goldmine for people who prefer passenger acts instead of switching.

Also do tell me the name of the payware route that gave you trouble, I can talk to the creator and get it fixed.

Adding to the list of must-try activities, do check out any of the activities by Ajay Khatri, Sandeep Kumar or Hamza Mithaiwala.

Oh okay. Try visiting https://sites.google.com/view/srv2ro...ase?authuser=0 the creator's payment instructions are available there.

A freeware version of the route is also available. Just download Part 1A, and then the common Part B. The free activities and trainset are mostly just for exploring, so you can download activities from trainsim instead.

The difference between the freeware version and the payware version is that in the payware version, he's electrified some sections (by placing gantries) where, in real life, the electrification work is still in progress and not complete. In the freeware version, these sections are left unelectrified.

    Hi

    thanks for your advice.

but I am currently in a loop trying to download SER route, I have paid and
    have a receipt.

At the moment I am asked to contact a phone number in India (I think)
and as I do not have international dialing I am asked to use Whatsapp.

I don't have Whatsapp and don't want it.

Logic tells me that if IDD or Whatsapp is required it should have been
stated before my money was taken.

I understand that different people have a different view of how things
work but a clear "howto" would help.

Why can't the owner or IRTS just send me a link to a download which
is what I asked for in my latest correspondence with the "owner".

    Cheers

Ah, I see. Everyone has WhatsApp in India (it's the first app everyone installs on their new phones). I don't know what IDD is, but I get why you don't want to install WhatsApp; it's basically Facebook's own spyware.

Yeah, they should have mentioned the WhatsApp requirement beforehand, but considering that 99% of their customers are Indians, I think nobody cared to. IRTS.in has undergone multiple UI and backend changes as well (it looks much better now), so things are yet to settle with the site. I guess it'll take a couple more months for it to become completely polished. Also, the thing is, IRTS acts as an intermediary. They're a platform through which route creators can share their routes, so it's always the route creator's job to ensure that the post-payment processes are simple and hassle-free.

You can try emailing the route owner. Don't forget to show him the receipt. I'll update this comment once I get his email.

    Hi Swadesh

I did have Whatsapp, I had to install it for work but only used it for messages so
was not aware it could be used for phone calls.

I have emailed Arya Pratap Singh who is the owner number 2 and let him know.

I'm sure it is all going to work out in the end and hopefully I will also be able to
get the SRV2 final Phase soon.

    Hi Swadesh

I finally have the route downloaded and will install it in the morning.

While it took a bit of a effort the people involved were very patient
    and polite, very nice people.

Thanks for your help and thanks to all involved.
