    Default We Lose another website???

    Hello people:

Have we lost another website "https://Indianrailsim.com/database" ???

This site was an EXCELLENT source to find out when you had a particular engine or wagon as to what ZIP file name it was located in on the Train-Sim library, as MANY Indian rolling stock files are all jumbled into a group of many files and not always associated with a ZIP name that matches what you want.

This site appears to be KAPUT-SKI over the last month (or more) and was wondering if anyone knows when or if it will be back or was withdrawn permanently???

Thanks for the information, and if out of commission, it is a big loss if you run Indian Railways.

Didn't you ask the same question earlier this month or last month? I have no interest in Indian railroads so I can't help you. I just recall you asked about it recently as well.

Teachable Moment... websites like this require ongoing support between registration fees and web hosting.

Consider purchasing a membership here and on other sites like Elvas so they can remain up and available.

    Yup, the website is down.

It was really useful for most of us, plus it had Mr. Sachin Yadav's absolutely fabulous EMU and brake van models. I think it used to host more files earlier, but there were only about 5 or 6 the last time I visited the site. It was fun while it existed, I really hope something can be done to bring it back.

It costs me $85 every year to host my websites (like Railsimstuff.com). Everything I put up is free as I'm not running my site as a store. To be honest... if my provider raises the price again... I might consider letting my sites go offline as well. I understand why these sites go POOF all to well.

And it was well worth asking again.

I am a big fan of Passenger acts and it was the go to site for their rolling stock.

I do believe that it had not been updated for at least a year.

If these sites are needing finance they should have a Donate link, many
of us would happily support them.

    Cheers

I partnered with a friend of mine in the tech world to hang my little blog off of his domain resources for a number of years. But hosting costs went up, and in the middle of a major cross-country move in late 2019, followed by the upside-down pandemic world of 2020, I had to let it go by the wayside. Most everything is backed up and I'm looking into reviving it all still, one way or another.

Running any sort of website isn't for everyone -- even managing a simple site built in WordPress or a host's "site builder" can become a hassle for some, eventually, in terms of cost or time or both. So I never expect everything to last forever. But it's always worth checking the "Wayback Machine" at https://web.archive.org/ to see if the URL got picked up and archived. In some cases, complete sites and all their content may be preserved.

I just used the Wayback Machine to see if IndianRailSim.com was stored, and it was! Unfortunately, the downloads don't work anymore. Also the captcha for the eng/wag file database doesn't load, effectively rendering it unusable. It's really sad to see.

irmsts.net is also down, but it tends to go down pretty often anyways so that's not surprising.
