Just a heads up for anyone interested, looks like another new version of Trainz incoming.

Question is, will it be another load of emperors new clothes or will they finally bring something new and innovative to the franchise? If I was a betting man, I know where my money would go!

Read the news letter earlier Vern.

No interest here, N3V are lower down my list of trusted train game developers than DTG.

If it is still using the twenty-year-old game engine then it is dead in the water as far as I'm concerned.

From what I’ve read over at the Trainz forum, seems that is the case. The beta is very much based on TRS19 SP4, the one that is so broken they had to offer a reverted SP3 download while they sort it out. The selling point is going to be Surveyor 2.0, but it sounds like the driving experience will continue to lack timetable operation, structured activities or proper autonomous routing. Sadly N3V just don’t get it.

That's ridiculous, still using that Jet engine two decades down the line (pun) from the start.
The equivalent of running a T-Model Ford when everyone else is in EVs.

It's not so much the fact they're using Jet, more that the code seems incapable of getting enhancements such as timetable mode and proper AI signaller integrated, not to mention support for vacuum braking or gear changes on DMU's etc.

I don't think they are using Jet anymore.

So much negativity. For some of us it provides an incredibly satisfying set of tools, and a host of freeware downloads, that allow us to indulge in some of our creative pursuits. I'm kinda proud of my latest effort:

The above looks much better if you right click and "Open Image".
