    Default reading train sim errors

    when starting the trainsim it starts to read the train/trainset,stops on error line 38 for example [SW]-SD40-SP7310 allso others in this line of engine files.What is line 38?When you remove this engine file,both OR and trainsim work as they are suposed to.

    If you download and use the "context" editor from Steam4Me,it will point you to "line xx".MSTS does not like errors in eng files.

    The contents of Line 38 is NOT constant. It may vary with each ENG file. For us to tell you what is wrong with that line 38 you must zip up the listed ENG file and post it to the forum. Also we need to know what Sim you are using original MSTS, MSTS with bin update, or ORTS?

    It is unclear what the line numbers are?
    You would need to attach the file so that we may load it into an editor.

    Looks like the Friction is missing one data entry.
    Replace the line:
    1920N/m/s 1mph 21.60N/m/s 1.8
    Which is just below "Friction ("
    with this:
    1920N/m/s 0 1mph 21.60N/m/s 1.8

    Note I have added a Zero between 1920N/m/s and 1mph.

    This is on line 37 but MSTS was reporting the error on line 38 as it was looking for 8 entries and when it go to the end it had only found 7 entries of data.

    Hi Charles,
    Wishing you A Happy New Year

    The default locos all have 10 entries in Friction, so maybe that's the problem?
    The original of [SW]-SD40-SP7310 has the following entries :
    Friction ( 100N/m/s 1 -1mph 0 1
    5.1N/rad/s 1 -1rad/s 0 1
    )
    although a similar loco (SP_SD40_2_7310) has the following entries :
    Friction (
    1910N/m/s -0.10 1.3mph 19.90N/m/s 1.8
    5.1N/rad/s 1 -1rad/s 0 1
    )
    Cheers,
    Ged
