So to answer everyone since it's my turn the routing only looks at where it is going not where it's going from. So for example M-STOLAC would be using LAC in the routings because it's going to Los Angeles. Here are all the routings.

BNSF ALL (or however it's formatted) would route the train down the BNSF Mojave Sub at Mojave instead of UP. LAC would route the train around the wye to the Cajon Sub at Barstow vs some other symbol like a CHI which would head down the Needles.

As far as the part about not using 2 letters that confused me at first but I take it UP has some 2 letter prefixes. I have no idea what they are but the prefex in MBKWC would be M. All it's saying is don't use 2 or OTTO gets messed up.

I'm still trying to figure out how to get a WB for BAR to arrive from Needles in receiving. Routing shows it will go to track 3 at East Barstow but I think I have to manually use a switch and call on signal at the entry to the yard to get it off the main. Because if I don't it will just keep going for some reason. Haven't had an EB approch yet but I'm gong to try some tests and see what happens.

    Thanks

Thank You, I seem to have an understanding, but for the life of me, don't know why in the PDF says we need the complete symbol example M-BARBAK, MWCBK for Otto to fully understand. Meanwhile the online XML tool only requires 3 & 2 letter codes.
Even just viewing the in-game XML it's using 3 & 2 letter codes, perhaps the PDF need an updating.

I believe the reason why is to distinguish what is a UP, BNSF, and CSX trains. So the format it's actually calling on the 1st character for priority while checking the last 2 (UP) or 3 (BNSF) to find out where it's going.

I just ran a test on M-LACBAR and despite the routing saying Main 3 only at Bakersfield E it went on Main 2 and bypassed the ability to enter the yard and would otherwise keep going. I'll have to test the west side and see if that works. I know SB into WC work fine.

Has anyone heard of any issue like this over on Depot. If it's a known issue, than I can flag the trains in and keep an eye on them.

    Thanks

Train name M-CHIBAR continues WB on M2 at East Barstow. Has done this with other BAR bound trains WB.

Here is the routing file info (default)

    @WBM3_Only[6] BAR

    6. East Barstow WB Main 3

    Thanks

On an EB test of M-LACBAR it lined into West Rec properly. Must be something wrong with the WB routing.

If someone can pass that on to the team if not known already. I'll wait and see how it handles in Rec yard but I suspect it will be just fine.

Not too sure this belongs here, but, here goes.
The following line is in the Barstow-Yermo "TrainSymbolRouting" XML for Otto's use.
<!-- Valley Jct westbound and Jewell eastbound to Mojave Sub -->
Shouldn't it read after "eastbound" to Needles Sub

Its not all perfect, There's some routing that Otto misses completely, such as trains going up to MJ where its in the XML routing file or at Silverwood where trains need to go to UP, he misses that completely There needs to be improvements in the AI dispatch.

Most of the issues except for the one I found at entering Barstow Yard from Needles are symbol errors that can be corrected.

Here are some valid BNSF symbols
    M-BAKBAR
    V-LACCHI
    M-NBYLAC

    What is not valid is
    MBAKBAR
    VLACCHI
    MNBYLAC

Bnsf must have the delimeter of the "-" "_" or " " in between the train type and the 6 characters. What it looks for is characters # 1 for prioirty and characters 6 to 8 for destination. I' not sure why those delimeters are important but that's how it wants it.

So far I have not seen any issues of missed routings other than the issue previously mentioned at BAR. There is an easy way around that one as well.

    Thanks

Scott Otto doesn't read that part in green as those are just notes.
