You are most definitely allowed an Opinion, I'm just trying to explain why we do it the way we do, I think its more the delivery to be honest, but yeah we do understand, we deal with the same requests everyday so we are well aware that people want eye candy, so i'm not disrespecting your view, I just think the respect should go both ways, we have close to 500-600 real railroaders who operate the sim, we use their feedback because our primary focus is the physics and always has been, I cant speak for what John wants to do but I respect his decision.

who knows what the future of Run8 will hold, it wont be as quick as some people would like, we run at our own pace, if anything should be clear we have been consistent with that, that wont change.

comparing us to the other sims doesnt hold much water, Run8 was created by a group of enthusiasts who enjoyed running trains as realistically as possible, the wonderful thing is that hard drives are huge, you can own more than one sim, compare and see what fits best, the proof is in the pudding so to speak

Perhaps the specific issues of trees and scenery density should be abstracted into another thread.

However I am with Mike in that visual enhancements need to be a part of any wish list going forward. Maybe not ahead of a proper timetable or scenario editor, or some Alco's, FM's and steam traction, but they do need to be on there.

I enjoy Run 8 and hope to continue supporting it, but that doesn't mean to say I don't wince at the graphics sometimes. As I said previously, they don't have to be Speedtrees which as I understand have to be licenced and royalties paid. However if you look at Trainz (for example), there are several instances of authors who have created decent looking trees which are far better than billboards but don't chug down the frame rate into single figures - clam1952 and Jankvis are the authors if you have Trainz installed and want to see how they look.

My previous remarks were not aimed at you, thank you Jason. There is no disrespect meant to you as the developer. But a wish list is just that, so i stated my wish. Others on this forum obviously think i am not allowed to state a preference. Regardless of the fact i am also a retired railwayman of 30 years service. And know just a little bit about diesel locomotives in general, if not specifically the US classes. I also enjoy the "as realistically as possible" aspect of train games. But that should not detract (in my opinion) from the overall immersion factor. That's me done Jason, i won't mention it again buddy.

Agreed Vern not to the detriment of other features being updated or added, but as well as. Some Alco's would be lovely, agreed Vern. Nice exhaust note on most of them, better than all those GE's and EMD's

Leaving trees etc. aside then, more classic traction if possible. It’s actually quite amazing that we haven’t seen any E or F units in the game yet, along with some classic boxcars or heritage passenger stock either streamline or heavyweight. How about some GTEL’s, not strictly accurate for the areas modelled but boy would they sell like hot cakes? On a more prosaic level how about some RDC railcars (DMU’s)? Would be great for passenger shuttles or just exploring around.

And while I know it’s a forlorn plea, but please think about opening things up a bit more for external content creation. Whether that be some sort of route editor or a means to allow talented creators to build their own rolling stock and import in the game, even if it has to be distributed via 3DTS (whether freeware or payware) themselves for QA purposes. Might be the best way of getting thos Alcos, F7’s and Baldwins etc. in the game.

I'm quite happy the team has chosen to stick with the modern theme, different from the others. While I enjoy creating. I'm happy they've chosen to keep things inhouse if you will. Surely less headaches, things not working due to creations haven gone wrong, shared across platforms. Hell, some unable to follow what instructions there are now during install process. Can just imagine the never-ending cry for help from R8 support when pvt / shared mods go sour.

As to more detailing of the terrain, I believe that & others will come along in little bits over time, seems inevitable, surely not a ball buster if never goes further than present. I prefer the day to day operations. Eventually other details of the life will come along, & won't have further time to see the surrounding features. Counting blades of grass, how many leaves, &, or, needles on the O'l trees. lol.

Stick to your guns Team, has worked thus far, don't see a need to follow others.

No matter what you do Team, Your damned if ya do, damned if ya don't, nature of the beast.
Many *itched during the long silence, now a return, &, the *itching hasn't ceased.
I've just slathered another layer of calamine lotion on the O'l wrinkles, "Safety First".

Another wish, that the Run8Studios purchase proceedure is streamlined. To include a basket system. Just went to purchase around 10 dlc packs and found out i have to pay for each one separately

Doesn't fill me with joy, that i will have 10 foreign purchase surcharges, added to my bank account.

There is a lot of talent if they decided to open this up. More regions then just the current ones . I would like to develop the Midwest corridor of both BN and UP/CNW. I would enjoy it a lot more then trying to develop the version for OR/MS.

One route (actually two) that has always appealed to me after playing the old SIAM Despatcher game of it, is the Kansas City to St Louis stretch via Jefferson City with the option of going via the Sedalia or River subs. There's also lots of scope out west to do something a bit different - how about the Willitts to Fort Bragg "Skunk" Railroad in Northern California, or the McCloud Forest. maybe one of the old Oregon logging lines such as Carlton Coast. What about pushing Mohawk/Selkirk up the "old" NYC Adirondack Line through Tupper Lake to Malone? F7's passing in the night on express passenger/sleeping car trains...

This thread is about coming up with new and innovative ideas so hopefully the devs are listening.

The other obvious gap they need to fill is the Soledad Canyon Line from Palmdale down through San Fernando and that tunnel which comes out underneath the massive motorway intersection.
