I have been trying to figure out the train list window, the problem is I don't know how to change to one of the other consists in the activity. Sometime when I tap on one of the services it switches to it, but other times is does nothing.

It can be complicated...suggest you read manual section >>> 7.9 Changing the Train Driven by the Player
While the Train List window has trains listed by color, you may have not noticed this...some trains may not have a cabview...are you switching to an AI without a cabview? Also you may not be using the keystrokes properly. Your information is too sparse to really offer much more than that.
