DDs to ACE

is there a program to convert DDs files to Ace?
also tiff and TGA to Ace?

ok sorry for the interruption I found a converter online and converted Tiff files to TGA files. now I need to convert TGA to ACE
wow, that was a mouth full

AceIt and TGAtool will convert .tgas to .ace.
I find AceIt a little easier to use.
If you use OpenRails .dds files don't need conversion.

.PSD (paint program document) ===> .TGA (via plugin) ===> .ACE (via AceIt) = Texture compatible with old sim.

.PSD (paint program document) ===> .DDS (via plugin) = Texture compatible with newer sim.

Why bother with the extra conversion step to achieve a format used only by the moldy oldie sim? Is this one of those 'lets move on' inflection points that Microsoft is going to solve by making Aceit non-functional on newer operating systems?

DXTBmp is one I have used for MSTS/OR and MSFS.

Ok thanks for the insights into my dilemma, I'm converting DDs files to use in the "moldy oldy sim" for my great-grandson. I use OR but due to its complexity, a 5-year-old needs something easier. We watch trains every day on the Mojave sub and on the loop in California, he's a train nut as am I.
