The thing which puts me off going back to Trainz is the confusing conglomeration of passes and subscriptions and what each one offers.

Why can't I just have the current version of Trainz and be done with it?

The only subscription worth having for me Bruce, is the Gold Membership. Which gives you everything and at just over £12 a month sterling, is cheap as chips. Not sure how it works out in Australian dollars.

Well, I'm not big on Trainz as a whole. This Gold Membership and "Subscriptions" turns me off even more. The product as a whole needs to improve before I'd "pay to play."

That's exactly how I feel about it.
Twelve Pounds per month equates to AUS$20.44 at today's rate.
That's ridiculous.......AUS$240+ per year for a product which never seems to have any stability; no sooner is an updated version issued, a Service Pack is on the horizon!

And having to go 10 galaxies away to find missing KUIDs for DLC is another issue. Why pay for the service when you got to go looking for missing files all the time? A good part of the missing KUID files are on very insecure websites and are in countries that at least in the U.S. are considered hostile to the U.S. and are therefore blocked.

Just on principle I'm against subscription pricing. There's no point in playing the full price of the same game year after year. The same applies to most things in the real world too. Granted sometimes there's no other options like insurance or something. But a game? That's just insane. - Rich

Any time I used TRS19 I NEVER had a subscription. Which is why I never downloaded much or downloaded overnight. A route would totally be out of the question.

I simply just created stuff and tried to run them which worked well. But I agree not a good business model. I understand it's a price for providing a server etc. but I'd rather find alternative ways of getting stuff if I wanted it bad enough.

No subscription for me.
Holding out still for a Steam sale on TRS22.
With the massive ongoing domestic fuel price hikes here in the UK and a leaderless incompetent government who seem unable/unwilling to do anything about it, splashing out £55 on a train game just seems like gross extravagance at the moment. (Sorry for political rant).
