Default Trouble on the Barstow hump

    Hi, again....

Yes, I've used the hump once before, and it worked fine.... Now, I can't seem to do it....

    Enable the hump controller
    Enable slow speed controller
Close the angle cocks between the loco and car
Left Ctrl-F7 to bleed the air (which I hear the burst of air and the text confirmation)
And, according to the tutorials, it should all work.

However, this time around, every single time it cuts a car off, the loco goes into emergency and stops. I hear the blast of air when it cuts the cars, so apparently the cars are not being bled when I bleed them, or something is recharging them--even when the air hose is disconnected from the locos.
Clicking on one of the cars with the brakes "bled" and the air hose disconnected, 3 of the 4 values for the air brakes seems to want to settle on 7, not 0--Brake cylinder is the only one that remains 0.

Tried it with two different pairs of locomotives.... Maybe related, maybe not, but the HUD screen that shows the brake/coupler force per car is completely blank.

Am I doing something wrong, or is my game bugged out?

Did you happen to use the brake cheat or auto start buttons after the operation? By doing so you restore the train into train operating mode and lose all bleed settings you made. The other thing while looking at your notes above is you closed BOTH angle cocks behind the engine. You only need to close the engine's side anglecock. Otherwise I think your only bleeding the coupler. Despite my years running Run8 I'm not an expert on real world operations but I think that is how it works. You can also try having a train with an EOT and perform the same operation. Check the EOT it should read 0 and would confirm that the air has been removed from both the line and the brake reservoirs allowing the cars to freely roll.

I haven't humped manually in V3 and only used auto. So perhaps I'm missing something.

    Thanks

Not much experience with Run8 --- however -- a quick search brought this up

3,829 views Feb 1, 2022 In today's instructional video, we'll quickly go over how to set up a train for humping, hump yard operations, humping with robots (A.I. Humping) for the latest version of Run 8 Train Simulator - V3.
This is a quick gist of such operations and not meant for hardcore server foamage - as your tags, operations etc etc may vary.
It took me a minute to figure this out so it's basically to get things in motion. If you were a bit stuck like I was, hop this helps!
    Cheers, Gerry

Tried going through the motions with an EOT attached (short of actually moving the train). Whether I bled the air with both angle cocks closed at the loco-first railcar connection, or with the loco closed and car open, EOT never went below 8. Clicking on a few of the cars, BP and BCyl were 0 and both reservoirs showed 8--but would go to 0 if I clicked on the bleed button.

However, trying to start a hump operation with the frontmost and rearmost railcar angle cocks open, it was able to disconnect the cars properly without triggering an emergency stop. I also didn't hit the "Auto AB" button this time--though, not sure if that had anything to do with it because I was closing the angle cocks and bleeding the air after using that function.

    Thanks

That's the tutorial I used from the beginning. It would appear that I just messed up on one step and closed one too many angle cocks....

Why not use the new AI humping option instead, this way you can do something more interesting like clearing cars from the bowl while the AI does the hump?

To use the AI hump, line all switches to the hump, enable the hump controller, Tag the engine Farthest from the hump with the word "HUMP" and enable AI- you should see a message that it's configured for AI humping.

I noticed you said :- but the HUD screen that shows the brake/coupler force per car is completely blank. If this is the case you are not in the leading engine. Make sure you are in the engine in the lead and furthest engine from the hump.

    Enable Hump controller
    Enable Slow speed controller
    Left Ctrl=F7
Close the angle cock on the engine, you do not need to close the angle cock on the car.

You will notice i reversed the procedure for closing the angle cocks and bleeding the brakes.
