Geez cut the SR devs a break. Just getting underway, still developing features, tweaking present product, without doubt introduce others along the way. Gotta start somewhere. I believe they've done a fine job thus far. "No Man's An Island". Perhaps the "Dynamic Duo" could jump onboard teach them how it's done? Should such a perfect product hit the market, perhaps, I could be persuaded to buy in. Anyways I still loves ya. Grumpy O'l Men need to stick together.

Well, Mike - that's been highlighted by the fact that there was no mention of it in the minuscule "list" of SP updates (all two items) in amongst the three pages of stuff that Sean just posted.

Ooops! Sorry....I forgot that he's on your ignore list.
Well, there were several consecutive posts by Sean today in which he cut & pasted a list of updates as issued by the SimRail hierarchy.

    Why?
Why should they be given some slack when it was they who posted that a save-game would be forthcoming and then contradicted that?
That killed any likelihood of me buying the sim.

Well, give it time the save feature may still come about. If they decide not to offer such a feature, so be it. Perhaps, they've changed their minds / plans. When was the last time you changed your mind? I would venture a guess "often" judging by your Purchase & Return announcements throughout TS. Anyways, spend that money on something else, better yet, save it for a rainy day.

Sorry but I see no reason to cut a company charging £30 for a retail product too much slack. Once again we see the train sim Stockholm Syndrome at work. They are a business with a product, nothing more, nothing less. The lead up to release was hyped to hell then suddenly the product was downgraded to early access and once we saw through the lack of transparency it became obvious the single player game was and remains pretty much an afterthought.

Just to clarify, I don't dislike SimRail and I will be following it closely with the hope it eventually evolves into a game worth playing. But at present I get the vibe there is no real plan, the devs are firefighting previously unseen bugs while at the same time scrabbling round to get features working that should have been in there on Day 1.

Just a few minutes ago, as a matter of fact, when I decided to respond to your jibe instead of my original decision to ignore it.

But then, you see I'm not attempting to run a business developing and selling computer entertainment, so my change of heart has no effect whatsoever on encouraging others to spend money on my product.

Hahahahahahaha, so is SMRY. I see no reason at all to cut any software developer slack. They decided to go into business, they decided to charge money for their wares. That goes for any developer. Particularly in this hobby, where they expect to get away with any dubious practice they decide on. Plenty of people make free addons for the various train games. They get my undying gratitude, for anything and everything they make available. I do not particularly like the graphics in Open Rails. But those boys have done wonders, to drag the MSTS stuff out of the 1990's and enable them to be used in a superior game format. Oh and all for FREE.

Kind of like dragging a dead horse? Perahps that is why you like it so much. Perhaps I should get the dust off my Commodore 64 (the monitor still works to this day) and see what I can drag out of the past, or drag dislike for a certain sim on and on

I've never had issue what the fine people of OR does. Not everything goes to plan especially with development and testing. Vast majority of people on that forum don't seem to care. If they want that market then they'll find the way, if not so be it.

BTW I could care less who's ignore lists I'm on, or who is on my list. As long as I'm not offended or attacked (which I'm not I'm amused) I'll still I think it perfectly healthy that peple are not happy with a product and obviously shoud post it here. Going on and on about it helps nobody decide.

Parting comment. Charity and volunteering has always been great especially when you can get tons of people. But there is a reason why socialism never works (despite the good intensions). The free market is there for a reason you either buy or you don't it's simple.
Anyways I'm not going to say anymore about what all that means, look it up.

    Thanks

Just to try to steer this conversation into what is positive.

Looking at the sample size there are 552 Mostly Positive reviews on Steam. You could say that doesn't mean anything because TSW3 has Very Positive over 1400. But to that I would say that's fairly impressive on a franchise that has been around a long time and had a "chance" to improve. So the numbers itself doesn't mean anything but the ratio and the current rating (trust me there is so called EA trash that make it and get horrible ratings compared to this). That ratio despite a slightly less favorable review is telling.

Just like polls not everyone wants to share their opinion. Most people who already have done their homework may avoid both products. But considering the comparison between the two I think they're doing just fine. They are likely going to get weaker sales out of North America due to the unfamiliarity of what European trains are like or enjoyed.

    Thanks
