    Default SimRail

Switcher on my Discord sent me this link. I looked for some more but considering most of this is in Polish I had a hard time understanding. This however was an English YouTuber.

Usually passenger stuff is not my thing (though there are some freights). I'm more curious about the signal boxes as they appear to be very interesting.

I requested access for the play test but the actual sim is coming out in about 5 weeks.

    Thanks

Current playtest is for multiplayer only.

I had signed up previously but when I tried to get on the English server yesterday evening, it dropped after 6 seconds then wouldn't reconnect. Going to try again shortly but not initially encouraging.

Single player testing unlocks on 21 December, from what I've heard.

    I can't stand that guy's commentary.
As soon as I saw whose channel it was I backed out.

After a tussle with the servers I eventually got on yesterday evening. Not bad, but still seems far from finished at least in terms of polish (no pun intended), especially to meet their mid January release date. I think it will complement the existing train games, but not replace them.

This one might be a bit better and not drive you much. Try to get throught the 1st minute of the alarm and you'll be fine.

How could anyone put up with that?

Is that really a representation of the real-life sound?

I couldn't put up with that continual noise while playing the game.....it's terrible.

I can't speak for how the engines sound, but the sound of going over the tracks is some of the best and most realistic I've heard in any simulator. The volume may have been a bit too high in balance to the guy talking or that is what it seemed to be.

Speaking of people talking (in English) I'm having a hard time finding much of anything on YouTube in the current playthrough. I've heard that there are many Polish dispatchers who have helped English speaking operators in one of the videos I was watching (who could speak both Polish and English no problem).

I know this may not be attractive to many in the west or perhaps North America due to unfamiliarity. The video was of a coal train which was different. But to be honest despite not being a passenger person there is lots about this including the signal boxes that I find very interesting. I just wish there was more coverage of it in a language I can understand.

    Thanks

To be honest I'm not having the best of times with this.
    Yesterday evenings experience consisted of.

    Session 1.
    1. Try to join session, get server disconnection message.
    2. Message cleared and loading screen appears with another message about session interrupted.
    3. Hit Esc and sat in the cab of the EMU or EU07. Clear AI/autopilot to take control. Nothing works, all switches shown on and pantograph(s) up, but checking exterior view not raised. Unable to get moving.

Give up and watch movie with wife for two hours.

    Session 2:
    1. Start game which immediately starts an update.
    2. Update complete, SimRail will not start either from the desktop or within Steam.
    3. Give up as a bad job and do some TSW3 instead.

I will try and verify the files later see if that helps but after my initial excitement, not feeling much love for this. Guess it's only a free playtest at this stage and I should cut the devs some slack but it does look as if there was a rush to get the beta out.
