CNJ, NJT & the Jersey Builder
The New Jersey rail scene of the 1970s and 1980s featured a wide variety of equipment, including second hand Santa Fe, Rock Island, Burlington Northern and Great Northern passenger coaches - causing a consist equipped with BN and/or GN coaches to be known colloquially as the 'Jersey Builder'. The following images attempt to capture some of the flavor of that era, with the job of carrying commuters during the period being managed at various times by CNJ, Conrail and New Jersey Transit among others.
