    Default Plague Of Advertising?

Anyone noticed much more advertising cropping up? Not only mini ads either side of the forum, but in between forum threads too. I haven't changed my browser settings and it's occurring across two computers and my iPad.

Appreciate the site may need to raise revenue but it's not like many people click on them and it makes viewing the forum very tedious.

Can the admin/mods check if something has inadvertently been "ticked" at their end or if this is a policy decision to open up more advertising, please reconsider.

The side bar crap seems to have always been there. Never had ads between forum threads, at least not yet. But honestly, if the ads can be filtered by Neils, whom ever, some of them need to be pitched. We got people on here who are young people. (Is there a minimum age requirement to join?) Racy dating sites and sites for such pics is probably something parents would rather there kids not get into. Not to mention if one goes to these sites malware might infect their computers not to mention they will get plastered by spam emails in their regular inbox.

AI don't have the sidebar opened when I come to the site. A few days ago everything appeared normal but when I clicked on any of the forums to read them, the first one I clicked on took me to a full page ad for things I was surprised would be on the site. Only lasted a full day and a bit into the next day and hasn't reappeared. All the ads were the same format, light blue page with dark blue writing wanting you to go to click on it to be taken to their website. Sort of thought it was a hack to be honest.

Here's an example of what I'm seeing. Not really acceptable - Nels if you want people to use the forum, get rid of this carp...

The ads are here unless the site goes to a subscription model.

    No filtering. Google controls it.

Vern, doesn't AdblockPlus help? I'v never seen such ads on this forum. I'm using Firefox. Hope this will help you to get rid of it.

Edge and adblocker plus and some other extensions = no adverts. But i do pay for a membership.

Which i just tried to renew and pay by card and the idiotic payment process wants me to use paypal AND change my password.

Not really complaining about the ads, I know server space isn't free. Compared to a YouTube link someone sent me from Germany the other night this is nothing. To watch a 30 second video from YouTube Germany I had to sit through 4 minutes of commercials.

The ads equal 12-14 paid members right now...

I've been using Adblock for some considerable time and when it opened this site this morning it did its job and blocked 6 ads.

    It works.
