So I decided to fire up ORTS this afternoon and do a 3DTrains Donner Pass activity when I got tracks that looked like this. Was wondering if anyone knows how to fix it?

If you installed Trainsimulations Mullan Pass directly to your main MSTS folder, it overwrites the global files, so they end up searching for .DDS files versus .ace files.
Two ways to fix, uncheck the box that loads .DDS over .ace as a preference.
The other is to go through and make the ace files used in the route, to become .DDS.

Hi
When this happened to me I ran the Route through RR Check Route
and that fixed it.
From memory RR found items were missing or incorrect and replaced them
with files from other Routes.
I did install Trainsimulations Mullan Pass directly to mymain MSTS folder.
Cheers

Route Riter download file name from TS File Library: rr7626fu.zip
MSTS Route Riter - version 7.6.26. Route_Riter v7 is a suite of over 110 utilities for performing various actions on sections of the Microsoft Train Simulator program. By Mike Simpson. (Previous version had 8110 downloads)

It looks like you may have installed a Trainsimulations route along with the rest of your routes. Trainsimulations routes use specially customized track pieces that use DDS textures instead of ACE textures. These track pieces have the same names as the track pieces from Xtracks, and they get installed into GLOBAL - SHAPES. So if you installed a Trainsimulations route in with the rest of your routes, and if the installer placed the Trainsimulations track pieces into your GLOBAL - SHAPES folder, then those track pieces will no longer read the ACleanTrack1.ace and ACleanTrack2.ace files that are in all your other routes.
And yet clever users do install Trainsimulations routes in with their other routes and get them to work just fine; it's just a little bit tricky.
Regardless of how it happened, to get out of your mess first try reloading Xtracks.
Also, try installing this upgrade - dpupgrade.zip - which is found in the library here. It's well worth the effort.
Finally, RR stands for Route-Riter. "Check Route" is a feature in Route-Riter.
And for future reference, the Donner Pass route was made by 3DTS, not to be confused with 3DTrains.
Hi David
I have dpupgrade.zip but am not sure if I installed it, I think I did...
But either way if it does not fix the problem RR is the way to go.
BTW I only use OR but stil find Conbuilder and RouteRiter my most
valuable tools.
i believe TSRE is the best OR tool, I just cannot get my head around it.

The ORTS log should tell you of any missing texture errors.
Hi
"The ORTS log should tell you of any missing texture errors."
Thanks, that is good to know, but RR finds them anf gives me the option
to replace them.
Cheers

Did anyone figure out if route riter works on windows 10 or even 11?
I never got it to work properly on windows 10, and ditched it.
