I went through all my ideas that I've posted for Run8 and I was surprised how many have been implemented. There is of course a more recent one I really hope gets implemented at some point and that is AI switching. In fact if it was part of a V4 I would pay for it just like I did for V3 and Otto's imperfections (they'll get it worked out and impoved as they are trying). I haven't been in Run8 much lately but I'm trying something different again to see if Northern CA works.

I really want to take advantage of some of these routes. Fitzgerald from what I've seen from Jason's videos is a work of art. The reason why I haven't purchasd it yet is because it's become a much bigger region. The bigger the region the tougher it is to simulate properly without the numbers on your server.

Hopefully I can get enough interest in Northern CA on my server that goes up and down at various times. If not I'll hope and wait for Run8 to release AI switching while trying some projects of my own.

    Thanks

As I said, enjoying the route overall - the gradients are a nice challenge but without the long grind of the western routes.

And hopefully Hyrail and R8 can sort out the AIDS issues.
Otto should work in Most Situations, there are a few points that need to be taken into consideration.

    1. one of the premade DM sessions had some issues, unfortunately I missed it when the installer was built, we put those out as a general template, as we don't have "Activities"

    2. if you Run ANY Symbol not in the TrainRouting.xml OTTO will not work, Otto has to know where to send these Symbols
I suggest Using https://symboleditor.highballrun8.com/ so you don't get syntax errors which will mess up Otto as well.

    3. Too Many trains on a given Route will cause issues, if Otto has no options to send or pass a train he will not route, General rule is at most
5 trains running on the A Line at any one time, maybe 6-10 on Fitzgerald.

    4. Train Length is critical, These are NOT PSR Routes and as such Running over 7000' will cause issues.

    5. for Otto to route into Rice Yard Inbound he needs tracks, the receiving yard will fill up over time so you can either Hump or Delete to relive the pressure
if the receiving yard is full you will get back ups just like real life

Thanks Jason. As I mentioned on your FB page last night I'm still having issues getting the industry locations to show up.

Seems there has been a bit of confusion over which order things should be installed on, which is why Run 8 desperately needs some sort of streamlined system to minimize the hassle for end users (and I don't necessarily mean Steam... ). Failing that, with all due respect, a manual or pdf sheet with the route that clearly details the steps to be taken. Shouldn't really have to rely on forumk posts here, at The Depot or on FB to get a £35 product up and running.

Anyway, what I'm doing at the moment is running Update 6, the Fitz installer then the SE update again. After that I'll delete any residual industry files, of which just checking there appear to be 4 in the SE region folder - 3-route.ind, config.ind, Fitzgeraldconfig.ind and a WaycrossConfig.ind . I suspect having four competing files is causing the issues. I'll then run the 3 route from within the game menu and see what happens.

Edit: Well renaming the IndustryConfiguration.xml to Ind...old, suppressing all but the 3-route.ind then running it again seems to have propagated the names. But what do I do with the xml file, as it hasn't created a new one? I've reinstated it at the moment but this is a very grey area.

    Edit 2:
Reinstating the IndustryConfiguration.xml has now caused all the labels to disappear again.

    This is all very confusing.

Think I'm off to play some Doom or Mass Effect...

delete the XML File that is a version 1 file and not needed

we actually do have a good help resource - www.run8support.com - it also has a good FAQ section

The issue with the install order is generally it shouldn't matter, that is my fault, II had some Scenery tiles for the A Line end up in the Fitz installer, I will be correcting that Within the Next month with a newer Southeast region Installer that will greatly streamline the process and fix these issues

have you looked in the user guide folder in the main run8 installer this folder also opens

    ConfiguringAndUsingIndustryTracks.pdf

    and many other PDF's

Ha! The game and route extracted its vengeance on me... Stopped short of a red signal so gave it the beans before the brakes had fully released and got 10 broken couplers! Well it gave me something to do waiting for an opposing train to arrive and clear the single line.
