Default ORTS Rolling Stock wish list

    Hello folks,
I was thinking of creating this thread, maybe spark some interest. I have zero skills when it comes to modeling railcars or engines. If you looked as some of my older work such as the 60' plate C boxcars, I'm not very strong in that side of things. I used TSM for years, want to learn Blender, but don't see myself making much of it, especially when there are some talented folks out there.

    Anyways.

Wishlist for stuff I'd love to eventually see in ORTS.

There are numerous railcars too that have yet to make an appearance, or so I feel. Maybe somewhere there is one available.

If there is something you don't see on this list, feel free to post what you wish for. Again, hopefully with enough interest someone creative could pick up something off the list and work with it. Who knows. We won't know if we don't show interest I suppose.

Great idea, Shawn! Just as an fyi (and you may already know) - TMT has a nice (payware) set of 5 BRIX 4-bay grain hoppers, which also includes 5 3-bay cars.

That, I was actually unaware of, I'll have to check them out, though to be fair, this list was mainly aimed for the ability to also create repaints, which, TT/TMT seems to be against.

Another locomotive model worth adding to the list are General Electric U-Boats. A lot of the models here on the F/L are using John Peterson's ancient model of these locomotives. There is some serious variety in the Universal Series line of locomotives.

I would love to see 4 axle GE Wide cabs in warbonnet colors. For years Santa Fe used these at the head end of their hotshot trains from LA to Chicago. Everybody makes 6 axle units, but 4 axle units don't exist.

Early 6-axle EMDs seem to be rare, as well

1960's-1970's era open bi/tri-level autoracks, as well as TOFC cars/trailers of the same era would be great to see here too.

I recall Trainsimulations had a B40-8W model under the streamlines name. Maybe another unit that could get revisited some day.

I also believe they have an open bi/tri level autorack model, featured under the MILW set I believe.

BLW/ZT has a ton of early EMD motive power for both four and six axles EMD's and Alco's. I believe they have the SD18, SD24, SD26 and SD35 models as well.

It's also a very exclusive club, hard to get into or even a response, but they offer a ton of early GE locomotives in both the U series and C series.

Another car brought to my attention that is a good work horse, is the DIFCO sidedump cars.

In addition, the UP Feather River 1984 addon has a ton of open-top autoracks.

With a bit of work, I think they could be made fully open, but don't quote me on that.

DIFCO sidedump car available in CV_MW set in the library.

Bi- and Tri-level open autoracks available in CNDcpk09 in the library

Years ago someone asked if they could use the autoracks and add a FA with autos to them and post them to the library but I can't remember if he did or not.

If someone wants to go wild and make a bunch of either of these in a variety of roadnames I could provide the TS Modeler files.

    Paul :-)
