Well....... Most of us here know DTGs game by now. What's said in the link is just words at the moment. If they live up to it, the sim should be a better over all product. But DTG has a bad history of saying they listen to users when it sure doesn't seem like it, and "fixing/improving" the sim only to hatch a all new assortment of gremlins that'll take them another 3-5 years to fix. If they fix the out of memory crap from ever occurring again that would be a huge gain. It's implied they are not really going to do a thing with the con editor and really that does need to be improved so it runs faster regardless of how much content the user owns.

DTG announced that they have new staff on board to assist with the way forward of Trains Classic for the future. I am a bit more happier and content that with having placed Steve Dark as Senior Producer, and a few other veteran developers squeezed into the staff lineup, that hopefully they have got the staff and ideas to take this game forward to the next level. Ideas of discontinuing the 32-bit version is a bit above my technical head, but, if that is the sort of path they want to take should we not feel encouraged, to say the least, fresher minds new ideas, sounds good to me. They have advised everyone that they have seriously looked at the coding and scripts within the core game, which has never been done since Kuju in 2007, getting rid of all the unnecessary ''fluff' will hopefully help with coding in the future, DTG seem to have had a huge shortage of game coders and script writers by all accounts over they years, now is the chance to get something done about it, one step at a time.
Hoping that Matt P and others have been pushed across to the TSW table for the future and things do look rosy now for further TSClassic projects.

    Cheerz. Steve.

I'm doing a meet and greet with Dovetail in about 2 weeks. Feel free to forward me any questions you have that you'd like me to ask them.

I am finding myself increasingly drawn back into TSC as opposed to TSW. Just splashed out on the new Japanese commuter route and now the NYC vintage Boston route. To say blasting a RS3 on a short commuter consist between frequent stops, while heavy freight also Alco hauled overtakes, brought a grin to my face, is an understatement!

OK...... Who's experienced this update now? Should have happened yesterday. I'm not going online till I hear what it's all doing. So, the ugly, the bad, the good?

Oh boy....... OK, here's my list.

    1. Fix the blueprint editor so the couplers are facing the right direction. Right now both couplers face the same direction. You have to edit the table to correct it.

    2. Add SOMETHING so one can see the couplers!! Right now it's throwing spaghetti at walls. Place the coupler, check it in the sim to see if it's where it should be, go back to the blue editor make more adjustments. Repeat process.

    3. A search bar in the RE to find the assets you want instead of going thru the list. You could type "A" but might get 50+ assets. Something more precise would be great!

    4. A fix so the sim doesn't crash the RE if you happen to need to do some fine adjusting of track and road height. As it stands now, it'll crash after a bit if you monkey with it too much. You need 13.22 m and it snaps to 13.21 or 13.23 over and over. Actually, a feature that you can type in the height needed would be better.

    5. Maybe this can be done... I haven't find anything saying otherwise. Something so other textures sets from routes can be added to a different route. It's a pain when you need a earth texture from route "A" you like and can't add it to route "B", the one you're working on.

    6. Update the tech docs! These files are ancient! I know some it has not changed, by a lot has!

    7. I know there is no sim that does this so it's a big 'if". A feature so you can design a asset in the sim it's self. Like a trestle for instance. Get the bents the right length to begin with. If it's a curved trestle, get the curve and track lined up correctly and build the bridge to fit the curve. Hope that makes some sense.

    Train operations.............

AI shunting\switching, AI control of player train switchable, to be able to ride the cushions. Not the dumb -followtrain hack.

This is #1 on my list... What a help to cut down on dependent Routes...
