What he's talking about are Windows folders like "users" that are super protected be the operating system.
There is no end to the unexpected things that will happen, or not happen, to your files.
If you only have a C:\ drive then you should put your stuff in the root of that drive.
Something like C:\Train stuff. If you put a 1 in front of it it will pop to the top of the list, C:\1Train stuff.
You'll want to keep the Openrails stuff by itself. C:\OR or something.

    What Randy said.

When you download a file from the library here, it's going to prompt you for where it gets saved. You get to choose where that ultimately is, and where you extract the compressed zip file to.

I have multiple hard drives, so e:\MSTS is where my MSTS installation is, and I use e:\Temp for saving downloads to that I have to uncompress/extract into folders. Most PC's today only have one drive, and c:\temp gets used by other programs. That's why I suggested something else like c:\MSTSFiles for your downloads to go to for uncompressing.

If you've got an EXE installer, you should be prompted to tell it where to install your files.

If it's a copy/paste, then you need to get familiar with the file structure for MSTS:

    Trains go into two folders:
\MSTS\Trains\Trainset folder is for ENG/WAG files, and theres a Cabview folder for CVF files and Sound folder for SMS and WAV files.
\MSTS\Trains\Consists folder is for your CON files --- without CON files, you won't see any engines + wagons/cars for running in the game.

I'm going to close this thread, mainly because you've gone in multiple directions and it's still not clear where your trouble is.

Feel free to open up separate threads to handle each specific problem you're seeking help with. There are a lot of people willing to help, but you need to do some of the heavy lifting and share more than just one or two sentences. I was serious about a video or screenshots. Expecting us be mind readers won't get you very far.

Thought this deserved a quick follow-up.... I've been PM'ing with Kyle, and English is *not* his first language. He's provided me with some screenshots and we're working thru his issues gradually.

It seems that not all of the default routes were present when he ran the batch file, which is a known problem from years back. It's one of the rare cases where reinstalling the routes might fix things.

I thouight Crash Acttivities were banned on this forum, if not they should be... How many Drivers, Conductors, Passengers do you want to kill.... And why would you want to...

To guide/help people you have to engage them....no one has been killed on this forum...and the novice poster has not made or uploaded or shown a "crash" activity, only that he wanted to make one, perhaps with some guidance that "wanted to" could be redirected to something more aligned with the values of the forum. Little patience Daniel, thank you.

Indeed. Being young and curious isn't a crime yet.
