Default Return of RTS Server - Saturday Nights starting April 15th.

    Hello:

I've been checking with my community and despite having plenty of other train sims both present and on the horizon, nothing beats the interaction you get with Run8. I've tried playing around with other regions to make sure operations with serving customers continue to run on a regular basis without delaying or unrealistic schedules.

To do this I have posted a list of switching districts. The biggest involving the entire Northern California route, while others may be smaller and isolated to the indidividual switching districts like Bakersfield, Mojave, Barstow, San Bernardino, Syracuse, Selkirk, Jacksonville, and Waycross. The difference here is only industies served by those centers would be part of the simulation while mainline trains could go beyond it to the rest of the route(s).

For a small group, or most MP situations I find this most feasable to operate and service customers on a regular basis. I have set up a discussion deadline on my Discord of the weekend of Saturday, April 1st. At some point next weekend I will then make the decision and go with what most people want to see.

As of April 15th we plan to start running 9:15pm to midnight/1am (as long as people are around) every Saturday night. Don't know if this is feasable, or how long it will last. I understand it's not for everyone but it's the way I want to run. I'm open to take on a territory that the majority want to operate/switch on see where things go from there. As long as we are having fun, we'll keep doing it. If not we simply find something else to do on Saturday nights.

Check out my discord link below and the #Run8 channel to discuss this further. I'll be happy to also keep an eye here as will others from my community.

    Thanks

    Hi Sean,

Just checking on the times listed, I'm assuming that's 9:15pm eastern? I'd be interested in dipping my toe back into multiplayer again- I've retired so have a bit more time on my hands lol.

    That's correct 9:15 Eastern.

Cool! You can check out our Discord or if there is anything you want to discuss here I usually check in on a daily basis. We are going to decide which route to run as well as the specific area to focus on within the route/region.

Let me know if you have any favorites from what is mentiond above.

    Thanks

So far it's looking like SJVR/Bakersfield switching district is a popular choice with the majority looking at running this. Should be an interesting week of seeing who is interested, then setting up whatever we decide works the best for everyone.

    Thanks

Appreciated. Looks like Mojave/Trona/Oak Creek is the big focus now. Haven't had too much other action yet but it should give us some fun this year.

    Thanks

Thanks. Will change your mind and take it down, or you will leave it up and no I believe you will take it down but on the other hand you might leave it up.

Nothing lasts forever. I'll take it down when I feel it's no longer necessary to keep it up.

Kinda rude don't ya think? The man's willing to operate a server on his own dime, putting lots of effort into building a good operation...I should think that deserves kudos not derp. Whether he keeps it operating or not depends on participants and is completely up to Sean.

I woke up this morning thinking how I'm 50 years old going on 51, divorced, and the last time I actually dated after being divorced was in the early stages of Run8 when I didn't have a job comfortably able to dip into inheritance. We were out on an overnight trip and it was time to head back as for me I had a scheduled session that night. She apparently had a great time and wanted me to stay out another night but I insisted that I had to get back we'll do it again. We never did as she died, and I haven't dated since. I actually tried to see her more often but she wasn't that interested and we were drifting appart. I was a stranger at the funeral. Hardly anyone knew who I was.

Since that time I continued to do what I could in Run8, and also drifted into other simulators and geners but I have no social life. The only thing that matters most to me is spending time with my 14 year old son, going on 15. We all get older priorities change. I think Run8 is a great simulator, but I chose a long time ago not to let it define my life. For the time being I'm letting it define my Saturday nights when I could actually get a life and go out and meet some people instead of playing with trains

    Thanks
